rrRRRRGH
The 1937 Snow White was the first movie length animation. And as much as it was intended to make money. It was also a labour of love.
Every frame is drawn and painted by hand. The artwork’s stunning.
The songs are still as popular today as they were in the late 30s.
The dwarves went from being an anonymous bunch to seven, world famous characters of their own.
The Wicked Queen’s transformation may not terrify as much as it once did..But it’s still a amazingly disturbing scene.
She’s a great illustration of the ugliness and madness of unfettered jealousy.
The love story is old fashioned. But girls have watched it since 1937 and gone on to have careers and adventures. So what’s the issue?
The actress who voiced Snow White wasn’t allowed to do any more roles. Because Disney wanted her voice associated only with Snow White. Yes, that really sucks, and shouldn’t be allowed to happen.
But then nothing’s perfect.
Anyone wanting this PC Snow White in place of the original.
Well, they’re welcome to it.
But I somehow doubt that beyond ticking all the PC boxes, it will actually be any better.
